A brief history of Hunters……12 years in franchising!!
I have had the pleasure to work for Hunters for some 8 years now and during that time we have seen many changes and developments.
Hunters was founded in York in 1992 by our Chairman (and now MP) Kevin Hollinrake and director John Waterhouse. A bold move by Kevin and John, as for those of you old enough to remember 1992 (like me!) that was a particularly difficult time in the UK housing market with prices falling and interest rates rising. Even against this backdrop, the business grew with new openings in Easingwold, Manchester, Leeds to name a few, as well as diversification into auctions, new homes and financial services.
We opened our first franchise location in Knaresborough in August 2006, exactly 12 years ago! Since then through cold start openings, acquisitions and converting independent estate agents, Hunters are now a national brand, the 5th largest in the UK with over 200 branches. We have led the way in many ways, for example, being one of the first to advertise on national TV, ensuring customer service is at the heart of our business and raising thousands of pounds for great causes around the country.
We are extremely proud of our heritage and are looking forward to the next 12 years, maybe its time for you to be part of our future too?
