The 2014 Hunters National Conference – “This is OUR time!”
Friday 21st March 2014, will always be a day to remember as it was on this day we had our annual conference and this year’s theme was “This is OUR time!”.
Ive been with the company for 3 years and a couple of weeks after starting we had a conference, these would happen 3 times a year and it gave us the chance to bring our group colleagues and our franchise partners together, this meeting had around 40 people in attendance. Move forward 3 years and Friday’s event had 220 people there and the only venue large enough to take us in York was the racecourse.
Over the years, as these have become bigger, we have invested more time and money into them, this includes professional production and professional speakers. This year our MD Kevin, gave a brilliant opening speech highlighting the growth of the market and the growth of the network, along with a few “nuggets” of wisdom thrown in for good measure. Hunters Head of Marketing, Pernilla, updated the audience on our marketing strategy going forwards and released new marketing material for the network to use straight away. Then, following break out seminars where each individual could choose a session that would be of most interest to them (including dealing with difficult tenants and optimising social media), our first guest speaker, Bernie De’Souza, gave a brilliant session on sales techniques, that were quite simply genius.
Then it was time for the headliner, this year we had the most amazing speech from the 2003 rugby world cup winning coach Sir Clive Woodward. This chap really was interesting, the stories and structure he followed to create a world cup winning team was truly inspiring, if you ever get the opportunity to see Sir Clive take it, he was brilliant!
Following a quick room change (whilst enjoying a glass or 2 of bubbly!) we sat down for a tremendous meal during our gala awards, the winners (of which there were many) received beautiful glass awards and… a ticket to join us for 4 days in New York in May!
Before retiring to the bar, Kevin announced the location for next year’s award winners, there was a gasp and huge round of applause when he announced CAPETOWN! (Boss, I had better be on that trip!!).
Overall a tremendous day, thanks to everyone who came and supported it and thanks in particular to all our kind sponsors, we really couldn’t do it without you.
